People with great ideas to tackle inequalities in physical inactivity are being invited to apply to Ideas to Action – a new programme delivered by Design Council, supported by Sport England and funded by the National Lottery.

Physical activity inequalities have existed for many years, and they have persisted, or even worsened, through the pandemic. Ideas to Action aims to support groups of people who are particularly less likely to be active right now. The programme is about doing things differently: working together and designing new solutions – based on what people want and need – to bring about positive, lasting change.

Ideas to Action participants will work closely with Design Council’s design experts to develop their ideas, projects, products or services and bring about positive and lasting change. Over six months, programme participants will benefit from weekly interactive workshops, expert one-to-one coaching and a range of online learning resources. Participants will develop design skills and mindsets which they can use beyond the programme, applying them to future challenges. In addition, they will benefit from building relationships with their peers and sharing learning as they go along.
