This report highlights the role the National Association of Link Workers (NALW) can play in coordinating link worker support and development across the UK and providing peer support, networking and professional development support that link workers need whilst juggling all the relationships, information and skills that they need in order to keep successfully supporting their service users.
Today's Sport England survey data shows interesting findings on how people are engaging in exercise within the limits of current social distancing rules and suggests there's a possibly growing stronger appreciation of the importance of exercising. More detailed work is needed to understand how far peoples' behaviour has changed from their usual patterns, and to gauge what the likelihood is of new habits forming into a new normal for individuals and families. I’d heard Tom Kerridge was going to be filming a show in his home town of Gloucester and was looking for people to take part. The idea was that he and 11 locals would take on a challenge to regain control of their weight, and get fitter and healthier in the process. The healthiest organisations from the Britain’s Healthiest Workplace survey were able to save an average of 11.5 days of unproductive time per person per year compared to a typical workplace. For an organisation employing 1,000 people, that amounts to 11,500 working days a year, which is equivalent to employing another 50 people. The Active Hospital feasibility and acceptability pilot explores integrating physical activity interventions in a secondary care setting. Specific physical activity behaviour change interventions were designed, implemented and mapped alongside existing care using the Behaviour Change Wheel (Mitchie and others, 2011). One of the most successful interventions, the maternity pathway, has enhanced care through all pregnant women undergoing assessment and receiving brief physical activity advice.
